Thanksgiving Shout Out: A Spot the Match Game

Gratitude is an essential characteristic for our students to learn and is a great trait to emphasize during Thanksgiving time. Thanksgiving Shout Out combines traditional images -Pilgrims, Native Americans, turkey, pie - with some of the most common things for which people are grateful - home, family, friends, school, church, food, water. While playing, students naturally reflect on the meaning of the holiday. One card could also be handed out to each student as a Creative Writing Prompt. (each card has 6 images that could be included in a story or gratitude list).

Game Assembly

Making the game is simple -- print, cut and play.

1. Print out front of cards (6 pages) Print in color or black and white. I like to use cardstock to increase durability. If they will be used frequently, then I also like to laminate.
2. Print desired backing
3. Cut: use 3” circle punch for circles. Use scissors or paper cutter for square shape.
4. Play!
